La Mondeo III bouleverse un peu plus les acquis de la précédente qu’il n’y paraît. Ses atouts devraient lui permettre de revenir dans le clan des 5 familiales les plus prisés en Europe.

Vraie grande familiale, la Mondeo n’est avare ni en espace, ni en plaisir de conduite ou en confort de suspension. Convaincante avec le Diesel 2.0 TDCi 140 ch comme avec le 5 cylindres essence de 220 chevaux, (même si on regrette la sonorité du V6 de la défunte ST 220), le sera t-elle avec les motorisations moins affûtées ? Réponse au cours des mois à venir, par exemple dans des comparatifs l’opposant à la nouvelle génération de Laguna ou à la Volkswagen Passat, l’autre « grande » de la catégorie. En attendant, saluons un rapport prix/prestations très compétitif pour les deux versions essayées, et à priori alléchant au moins sur le papier pour les autres motorisations.
